Sarah Jane Raymond Ryer, who witnessed the crash, recalled the propeller spinning separately from the body of the aircraft. “It kept spinning in the air alone. Nothing was attached to it,” she told CBS. The chaos and confusion rippled through the area as emergency crews rushed to respond.

Michael Roth, owner of New York Helicopter, later revealed that the pilot had radioed the base just minutes into the flight, reporting low fuel and an intent to return. “He called in that he was landing and that he needed fuel… but 20 minutes later, he didn’t arrive,” Roth told The Telegraph.
