Trump’s UN Speech
President Donald Trump delivered a nearly hour-long speech at the
UN General Assembly, far exceeding the 15-minute limit.
He blasted nations’ “open borders,” warning, “Your countries are going to hell.”
He accused asylum seekers of repaying “kindness with crime” and declared, “It’s time to end the failed experiment of open borders.”
Criticism of the UN
Trump also targeted the institution itself,
calling its efforts “empty words” and questioning its purpose.
Exchange With Guterres
Before his remarks, UN Secretary-General António Guterres said: “We are entirely at your disposal to work together toward a just peace.” Trump responded, “Our country is behind the United Nations 100%… the potential for peace with this institution is so great.”
Aftermath
On Truth Social, Trump wrote: “It was a great honor to speak before the United Nations… I believe the speech was very well received,” highlighting energy and immigration as key themes.
