Lip reader reveals what Prince William said to Prince Louis at VE Day Parade

Prince Louis may only be seven, but he’s already perfected the art of stealing the spotlight—this time, during solemn Victory in Europe Day commemorations in London. While much of the country reflected on the historic significance of the 80th anniversary of Germany’s surrender in WWII, Louis once again reminded everyone that, even in the royal family, kids will be kids.

Alongside his older brother Prince George and father Prince William, Louis appeared at several VE Day events honoring veterans and fallen soldiers. The parades and processions were grand, and the atmosphere reverent, but it was Louis’ unfiltered reactions that brought unexpected levity to the day.

In a moment caught on camera and later analyzed by professional lip reader Nicola Hickling of LipReader Ltd, Louis reportedly asked his father with perfect timing and a completely straight face: “Isn’t this supposed to be fun?”

As Prince William attempted to keep the young royal engaged with the pageantry—pointing out a military maneuver and saying, “They are grabbing their bars, isn’t it great?”—Louis replied with dry precision, “They are marching straight.” And when William followed up, trying to spark some excitement with, “Can you see them turning or lining up?” Louis, ever unimpressed, answered: “They’re going in a circle.”

It was a hilarious, all-too-relatable moment for any parent who’s tried to keep a bored child entertained during a serious public event. And of course, it didn’t take long for the internet to fall in love with Louis all over again.

“He’s got that classic baby brother sass,” one fan wrote on X (formerly Twitter). “Prince Louis and his eye roll. Haha!” another added. Others compared him to the ultimate “little brother energy,” full of mischief, honesty, and zero filter—especially when the world’s watching.

What makes Louis’ antics even more endearing is the backdrop against which they’re playing out. Despite enduring significant emotional upheaval over the past few years—most notably the loss of Queen Elizabeth II and his mother Princess Catherine’s ongoing cancer battle—Louis continues to be a source of joy and humor, both within his family and to the public.

While Prince George often represents the poised future monarch, Prince Louis offers a refreshing counterbalance: a kid who’s not afraid to question ceremony, roll his eyes, or offer up a sarcastic quip in the middle of a royal tradition. And in doing so, he’s fast becoming the most relatable royal of his generation.

With moments like these, it’s safe to say that Prince Louis is securing his place not just in the line of succession—but in the hearts of a public who can’t get enough of his charmingly candid take on royal life.
